Palm kernel oil is an edible plant oil derived from the kernel of the oil palm Elaeis guineensis. It should not be confused with the other two edible oils derived from palm fruits: palm oil, extracted.
What is the difference between palm oil and palm kernel oil?
They both come from palm trees, but there the similarity ends. Palm oil comes from the palm fruit, while palm kernel oil is extracted from the palm seed. And while over 80 percent of the fat in palm kernel oil is saturated, only 50 percent of palm oil is, making it easier on arteries.

Crude Palm Kernel Oil (CPKO) is a light yellow crude oil, extracted from the palm kernels, containing mainly lauric acid. Presco's Crude Palm Kernel Oil is used: in ice cream. in margarine.
Oil palm, scientifically known as Elaeis guineensis jaq, is a unique crop as its fruit produces two distinct types of oils; crude palm oil from the mesocarp and crude palm kernel oil from the kernel. Both of these oils, which are mainly made up of triglycerides, are chemically and physically different from each other with palm oil high in palmitic acid (C16 fatty acid) and palm kernel oil high in lauric and myristic acids (C12 and C14 fatty acids respectively).
Upon harvesting, oil palm fruits, which are produced in bunches called fresh fruit bunches (FFBs), are transported to a palm oil mill where the fruits are sterilised, stripped off the bunches, and crushed to extract the crude palm oil. The crude palm oil collected in a tank contains impurities, which are made up of both oil-soluble and -insoluble non-triglycerides. The oilinsoluble impurities such as fruit fibres, free moisture, and nut shells can later be removed through a purification process (see Figure 1). In the meantime, the nut shells are further processed to separate the kernels from the shells. At the end of the milling process, crude palm oil and palm kernels are produced.
There are many uses of palm oil and palm kernel oil and ONESTA OILS hopes that this description will be useful for you to better understand the applications of palm oil and palm kernel oil in the global oils and fats industry today.
Presco's Crude Palm Kernel Oil is used:
- In ice creamMARGARINE:
MARGARINE is basically an emulsion of water-in-fat, resembling butter in appearance, character and composition
Ghee:
GHEE is made from butter oil, but demand has exceeded supply thus raising its price. Hence the emergence of ghee substitute, vegetable ghee or vanaspati
Shortening :
SHORTENING originated in the USA to substitute lard, which was extensively used in baking. The term ‘shortening’ derives from ‘short’, which means ‘tender’.
Soap :
A typical blend of a SOAP would be 80% palm oil or tallow and 20% palm kernel oil or coconut oil. The 80:20 formulation gives about the right balance of lather, rate of wear, cleansing ability and hardness.
Cream,lotion and milk:
CREAM, LOTION AND MILK are cosmetic products applied topically on the skin for one or all of the following effects: moisturising, Moisture-retention softening, cleansing, nourishment, protection and stimulation. They are similar products except in viscosity. In general, cream is more viscous than lotion and milk.
Chocolate:
CHOCOLATE gives people great pleasure when eaten. It also makes a suitable gift for many occasions. The fat content of chocolate varies from 28% to 35% depending on its intended use.
Ice cream:
ICE CREAM is produced by freezing a mix of several ingredients, which usually consist of milk products, sugar, corn syrup and flavours. Additionally, egg-based ingredients, food stabilisers, emulsifiers and colouring may be added. Apart from these, water and air, incorporated during the processing, are major constituents.
Non-dairy cream:
Non-dairy creamers have several advantages over the dairybased creamers. These include longer shelf-life, ease of storage and handling and lower cost of production thus making them more appealing to consumers.
Pkc/e:
PKC/E is obtained from the palm kernel after palm kernel oil has been extracted. The kernel is the endosperm of white cellular mass coated with a tough black membrane or testa, which is encased in a thick shell or endocarp of an oil palm seed.
Palm kernel oil is produced by the physical refining of crude Palm Kernel oil. It is produced under most stringent quality control requirements and hygiene standards.

DESCRIPTION: Nigella sativa is one of the most revered medicinal seeds in history. The best seeds come from Egypt where they grow under almost perfect conditions in oases where they are watered until the seed pods form.
Black cumin seeds were found in the tomb of Tutankhamun. Though black cumin seeds are mentioned in the Bible as well as in the words of the Prophet Mohammed, they were not carefully researched until about forty years ago. Since this time, more than 200 studies have been conducted in universities.

Although corn comes in several colors, the sweet corn for eating off the cob comes with either yellow or white kernels or a combination of both, called bi-color corn. White corn has creamy white kernels while yellow corn has pale to dark yellow kernels. ... White corn does not contain carotenoids, hence its color. Yellow corn, on the other hand, has carotenoids, giving it its yellow hue and also making it a good source of Vitamin A. Yellow corn also contains more lutein than white corn.
All cornmeal is made from dried kernels of field corn. Once it is properly dried it is then ground, either by stone or metallic grinder, to create a flour-like substance. The two principle types of cornmeal are yellow and white. They are substantially similar to one another with a few exceptions. The two work interchangeably in baking.
Yellow cornmeal is made from whole yellow corn kernels. According to The Perfect Recipe, it also has a more powerful flavor. Yellow Cornmeal is more utilized than white and it is most popular in the northern United States,Europe,Aisa and Africa.
White cornmeal is made from a white corn. It also has slightly less vitamin A than yellow cornmeal. White cornmeal is more utilized in the southern United States and may not be as sweet as yellow cornmeal.
In addition to white and yellow cornmeal, blue cornmeal is a closely related, but different food. Blue Cornmeal typically has a more intense flavor than the other two varieties of cornmeal. Blue cornmeal is cultivated by Native Americans in the Southwestern United States. It is more commonly used in that region of the country, but is less utilized overall.
